Here Comes Peter Cottontail...

...hoppin' down the bunny trail.

Friday afternoon we colored eggs.  We had so much fun doing it that i didn't get my camera out in time.  So this is what we've got, an after shot. :)

The bunny has come and gone.  This year he left quite a bit of candy for these kids of mine.  I'm thinking that I will need to let him know that next year we don't need quite so much.

Saturday morning they each woke up to a basket of fun.  They were so excited.  Jacob and Will were up first, and they were very good not to gather eggs without Emma and Wes.

Once everyone was awake, though, it didn't take long to bring in quite a haul.  Candy comas were to follow this feast.

Later, we went over to the church for the Primary Easter Egg Hunt.  It was so nice they were able to hide the eggs outside.  They hid 800 eggs, so each child had enough opportunity to find a good amount of eggs.

A couple of my friends came over to decorate cookies for Easter.  We had a lot of fun together, and I think the cookies turned out pretty cute.

Charity Never Faileth Cake

After my cake was seen at the Twilight party in March, a friend of mine called me up to do a cake for a party/meeting that they were having for the Relief Society Board.  I went with the RS colors for the decor. The topper was the tricky thing for me.  I wanted to use the RS logo and motto, but I wasn't sure if I would be able to pull it off.  So I ended up making two toppers and then decided later.

A Bow

or a Medallion...

I finally went with the medallion.  It isn't perfect but it fit the theme so much better.

Where the Wild Things Play

We love going to the zoo, but honestly it had been so long I couldn't remember the last time we went!  It was finally decided that we hadn't been since Emma was two.  Which also meant that neither William nor Wescott had been there.  In February, the schools had a couple of half days and a four day weekend.  With so much time with the kids home, I thought it would be good to do something fun and out of the ordinary.  So, I called up my friend Sara and suggested that we take our kids to the zoo for one of the days.  Her kids are basically the same ages as mine and they get along well with each other.  So it was set, the sun would shine and we would visit the animals.

Here we are watching the otters.  The kids loved that they could see them under the water as well as above.

We made it up to the elephants as well.  A new baby elephant had been born at the zoo just a couple of months earlier, and we were all excited to see her.  It is hard to see, but she is there close to her mom.

There are benches up by the elephants, so we decided to have a picnic while we watched them walk around.

In Africa, there were a bunch of metal statues of various animals for the kids to climb and play on.

We got there just in time for hyena feeding time.  That was quite educational for the kids, let me tell you. ;)

Wes loved the cheetah.

There was also a safari Jeep.  They played on this for a while and did a good job taking turns at the wheel as well.

Jacob, Emma, and her friend in the meerkat bubbles.

For this outing I opted to leave the double stroller home and just use the umbrella stroller for Wes.  It worked out great, because he could just ride and when he wanted a better view, he just pulled up on the bars and "stood" up in the stroller.

I was a great day.  The weather was perfect and the company was awesome.  It made for a memory making weekend the kids will remember for a long time to come.

Twilight Obsessed

Breaking Dawn part 2, the last movie in the Twilight Saga, was released on blue-ray the beginning of March. So, I decided to host a DVD viewing party. There had been a couple of parties over the last couple of years so I had quite a few resources for planning. Almost all the decorations were provided by my friend Shawna. She is an expert party planner, in my opinion, and already had things left over from before. She has every movie poster, except the last one. I was lucky enough to have one practically fall into my lap. One of the stores had a deal where I you bought the movie you could get a free poster along with some other things. Well, my hubby had already graciously purchased the movie, so I asked how much just the poster was. The worker told me to just take it, I could just have it. Awesome!

So for a couple of days I put a cake together that I thought could represent all of the books and movies. It was by far the most difficult cake I had attempted. I think it turned out pretty well though.

While we were waiting for everyone to arrive, I gathered some things together for some games. There was a character matching game as well as a power matching game.

I provided mushroom ravioli, vampire blood punch, and the red velvet cake. Everyone who came brought Twilight themed side dishes. Everything tasted great and it was a lot of fun.

At the end of the evening, my friend Edie gave me the swan and rose as a thank you. That was so awesome. We invaded her house and she thanked me for it. I am grateful for all her help with the set up and location.

Here are a few pics of the set up.

Blue and Gold Celebration

So now that Jacob is eight he has entered the big world of scouting.  For the Blue and Gold birthday celebration of scouting they put together a circuit of activities for families to participate in. The first was a knot tying activity using Twizzlers.  The kids loved that they got to eat their work.  Then we moved on to ax throwing.  They got to practice hitting the target with tennis balls.  I tell you Wescott has a really good arm!

Then on to the shooting range.  Everyone got a turn with the Nerf guns.

Some were a bit wild with their aim.

Wes so proud of himself.

The last station was filled with minute to win it games.

There was also a game set up where you knock down a wall of cups with an exhaling balloon. That one was difficult to capture though.

The night was a lot of fun.  Will can't wait for the next pack meeting because he loved it so much.  The next one is the Pinewood Derby!  Stay tuned...
